A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a white square placed diagonally in front of a gold sheaf of wheat with three gold spearheads above and overall two crossed red keys with loops in base resting on a blue curved scroll bearing in gold letters the motto, I SUPPORT, the scroll ends passing through the loops of the keys at either side and extending to their wards above.
The scarlet keys on the white background allude to the flag of Alabama, the units home state. The keys further refer to the units mission of service while the white squares formed by the crossed keys suggest cartons or boxes relating to the supply functions. The spearheads and wheat indicate the range of materiel which the organization may be called upon to service and supply.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 135th Supply and Service Battalion on 10 December 1969. It was redesignated for the 122d Support Group and amended to revise the symbolism on 27 April 1978.
